Dr. Zorana Đinđića 1, 21000 Novi Sad, Serbia
Dr. Slavica Savić attended a lecture given by Prof. Dimitrios Lamprou, Chair of Biofabrication & Advanced Manufacturing at Queen’s University Belfast, on 7th February. The subject was “A journey into the wonderful world of 3D & 4D Bioprinting: The future of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing,” connected with the CellInk Company. Microfluidics play a crucial role in bioprinting by facilitating precise control over the flow of biomaterials and cells, enabling the creation of complex, functional tissues and organs with enhanced structural integrity and functionality. Since BioSense is planning to buy a bioprinter, it was interesting to find out connections between bioprinting and microfluidics. Prof. Lamprou presented several examples of how these printers are employed in the pharmaceutical industry, personalized medicine, etc.
